Polar Reflections

In the fall of 2013, I traveled north to see the King of the Tundra on a trip to Churchill, Manitoba in Canada. These magnificent creatures spend their time on the shores of Hudson Bay waiting for the ice to freeze. This painting is based on a photograph I took of a curious polar bear looking up at us from six feet away. It was an honor and privilege to see the animals in the wild. The symbols in the sky are similar to Inuit traditional tattoo markings.
